Interest Rates & Other Resolutions of the Foundation Board

Based on the encouraging performance as of December 31, 2024, the Board of Trustees has decided that the retirement assets of active insured persons will earn interest at a rate of +2.0% for the year 2024 (previous year: +1.5%). With this decision, the Board of Trustees was able to ensure both consistency in the interest rate and the long-term financial stability of the Avanea Pension Fund. Furthermore, the Board of Trustees decided to increase the technical interest rate as of December 31, 2024, from the previous 1.5% to 2.0%. However, this move had only a marginal impact on the funding ratio, as the number of retirees remains very small.

With regard to the pension plans, the Board of Trustees has decided to reduce the premium rates for “covering the shortfall resulting from partial liquidation” effective January 1, 2025: For Pool 30 , the rate will decrease from 0.18% to 0.10%, and for Pool 40 (PizSol), from 0.24% to 0.15%. Furthermore, the Foundation Board has decided to cap the administrative costs per insured person at 0.40% of the insured salary, up to CHF 360 per insured person per year (previously CHF 600).

Following the retirement due to age of the previous pension fund expert, Ms. Esther Sager (Dipeka AG), the Board of Trustees has appointed Mr. Patrick Baeriswyl (Keller Experten AG) as the new pension fund expert, effective July 1, 2024.

Oscar Ransenigo, the long-serving president of the Board of Trustees, has decided to step down from his position after more than ten years on the Board due to his age. His vast knowledge and outstanding service will be sorely missed by the Board of Trustees. Ms. Marina Bleiker (trustee and social security specialist) has been appointed to the Foundation Board. The Foundation Board and the management team thank Oscar Ransenigo for his valuable contributions to the Avanea Pension Fund and look forward to working with Marina Bleiker.

Effective immediately, Björn Frischknecht, the former vice president, will assume the role of chairman of the Board of Trustees. Jael Bosshart will now serve as vice president. The Board of Trustees and the management team thank Björn Frischknecht and Jael Bosshart for their willingness to take on greater responsibility for the Avanea Pension Fund.
